Positive results for Fruits de Ponent from its trip to Fruit Logistica, both for the many sales contacts as well as its new stand location in a busier hall and the introduction of new varieties, such as the Tutti apple.
‘All in One’ was the motto of FRUIT LOGISTICA 2023, and it couldn’t have been more fitting. Because at a time when efficiency is ever more important, the opportunity for the entire international fruit industry to meet in a single place is even more valuable. With this context, Fruit Logistica 2023 – on its 30th anniversary – has returned to its original date in February, which is perfect for the stone fruit sector.
At this edition, the exhibition area was even larger than it was before the pandemic. The Cooperative Group shared a space with over 2,600 exhibitors from 92 countries and 63,470 professional guests and purchasers from over 140 countries, figures which illustrate the magnitude of this truly global fruit showroom.
As for the Cooperative Group’s stand, once again, Alcarràs and the message ‘From Alcarràs, Land of Inspiration’ was the motto by which the Fruits de Ponent Cooperative Group disembarked upon the trade show Fruit Logistica in Berlin, following the momentum generated by Carla Simon’s film awarded at the Berlinale.
The stand was continuously busy, with a significant amount of sales activity and many institutional visits, as well as the Cooperative Group’s own representatives, headed by our president, Benjamí Ibars, the general manager, Josep Presseguer, and various representatives from the Cooperative Group’s sales department.
One of this edition’s new developments was the introduction of the new apple variety Tutti, a variety tailored to the changing climatological situation, capable of withstanding increasingly hot summers. A project led by Hot Climate Partnership (HCP) in collaboration with the Institute for Food Technology and Research (IRTA) with the support of the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Affairs.
The trade show also served to launch the 2023 fruit season, which the Cooperative Group does with passion and optimism, despite the fact that the industry is facing one of the most challenging seasons in recent years due to the great difficulties caused by climate change and meteorological phenomena.
