It installs a new ultra-fast charging point at the Ponent Energia service station in Alcarràs and another one at the cooperative’s Agroshop
They add to the implementation of 6,588 of photovoltaic panels on the roofs of different work centres of the Cooperative Group which add up to a power of 2.5 MW
Fruits de Ponent Cooperative Group expands its commitment to non-polluting mobility with the installation of a new 150 kW ultra-fast charger at the Ponent Energia service station. In addition, it has also just implemented another one next to the Agroshop in Alcarràs that will serve customers of this business while they shop.
With these two new chargers, Fruits de Ponent already has a total of 13 electric chargers implemented in the different work centres which are used by members, workers and customers. With regard to the fleet of corporate vehicles, the Cooperative Group has electric vehicles, 6 of them are 100%, and 5 of them are hybrid. The agronomic technicians travel to the partners’ farms in non-polluting vehicle to promote sustainability.
Commitment to the circular economy: photovoltaic panels and the use of the olive pit
This path towards the circular economy and energy sustainability by Grup Cooperatiu Fruits de Ponent is complemented by the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roofs of the various industrial sites. In the last two years, the group has collected a total of 6,588 panels which are divided between:
- Alcarràs Fruit Processing Centre: 4,416
- Headquarters of the Camp d’Alcarràs Cooperative and the Cooperative Group: 1,495
- L’Ametlla Reception Centre: 495
- Molí d’Alcanó: 182
The sum of all of them provides a power of 2.5 MW with a total occupied surface of 21,501.8 m2.
With this promotion, the Cooperative Group achieves that the energy used in its industrial centres comes from non-polluting and green energy, such as solar energy, with the cost reduction that this entails, and therefore contributes to reducing emissions of greenhouse gas into the atmosphere (only with the installation of the Processing Centre panels last year, 511,037 kg were avoided. The Cooperative Group is devising this system through which surplus energy is made available to members.
Likewise, in the last year it has also implemented a system at the Molí d’Alcanó to re-use the olive pit as biofuel to power the oil press and, in addition, put it on sale to its partners through big-bags.
With these initiatives, the Fruits de Ponent Cooperative Group not only promotes environmental sustainability and green mobility, but also highlights its commitment to the responsible use of resources and innovation towards a more sustainable future.
