The Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of Catalonia (FCAC) and the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Affairs (DACC) commemorate the 20th anniversary of the sector’s Competitiveness Improvement Plan.

The ceremony, organised by the Federation of Cooperatives of Catalonia, was held at the Seu Vella and attended by nearly 200 co-op professionals from across Catalonia.

It was officiated by the minister of Climate Action, Teresa Jordà, executive members of the DACC and FACC, as well as with the presence of the secretary of Food, Carmel Mòdol, and the general director of Food Production Companies, Quality and Gastronomy, Joan Gòdia.

On behalf of the entire sector, the ceremony served to recognise 20 significant models of cooperative companies which have spearheaded relevant intercooperation processes in the last two decades.

Among them, Fruits de Ponent Cooperative Group was awarded for its substantial work in intercooperation. The Group’s vice president, Jaume Gené, accepted the accolade.

Specifically, the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Affairs wished to recognise the leap taken by Fruits de Ponent upon becoming a cooperative group in the year 2000.

The event also featured a prior debate with the participation of Maria Casoliva, member of the Steering Committee of Fruits de Ponent Cooperative Group and president of the cooperative Agrària del Llobregos.
